The world's most dangerous animal (excluding man) are MALARIAL PARASITES of the genus PLASMODIUM carried by mosquitoes of the genus ANOPHELES, which, if we exclude wars and accidents, have probably been responsible directly or indirectly for 50% of all human deaths since the Stone Age. Even today, despite major campaigns to eradicate malaria, at least 200 million people are ailing by the disease each year, and more than one million babies and children die annually from it in Africa alone.
