Reiterating what was said in director K.S. Ravi Kumar’s counter filed in the High Court of Madras, producer Oscar Ravichandran said that the petition filed by Ramunajadasar of the International Sri Vaishnava Dharma Samrakshana was based on false information and imagination. He also alleged that the petition was filed seeking free advertisement. He pointed out that the allegations mentioned in the petition were based on pure imagination as no such scenes that would hurt the sentiments of theists, particularly Vaishnavites, were part of Dasavatharam.
On the title Dasavatharam, Ravichandran asserted that it couldn’t be opposed, as there were no rules against using the title. He also brought to the court’s notice that when a film with the same title was released some years ago it was not objected to. Furthermore, the lead actor Kamal Haasan’s belief or disbelief in God and religion is irrelevant to the present case said Ravichandran. He also pleaded that the petitioner must be punished under the Goondas Act for raking up religious issues under the guise of public interest.
